An on-the-go mum and social influencer shares her secrets to eating well.
Life is getting busier for parents these days. Juggling work with raising the kids, plus finding time to exercise and socialise. In the whirlwind of daily chores, meal preparation can seem like just another daunting task on an endless to-do list.
But fear not, because eating well doesn’t have to eat up your precious time. With a few clever strategies, from our on-the-go mum and social influencer Dami, you can serve up delicious and nutritious meals faster than you can say ‘Is it bedtime yet?’
Start with a meal plan! Just a little time spent planning meals for the week can save a lot of time later. Sketch out a rough menu, keeping in mind everyone’s favourite veggies (yes, they exist!) and go-to meals. This way, you’ll avoid the five o’clock fridge stare-down and the inevitable ‘Hmm, maybe we’ll just order pizza’ moment.
Dami says: “Balancing everything can be a challenge, so I try to prioritise and plan each day carefully. Quick meal options are essential for saving time, reducing stress, and ensuring the family eats well. Tilda’s ready-to-eat rice makes it easy to put together a wholesome meal in minutes.”
Keep your pantry and fridge stocked with a few staple items that can be turned into meals quickly. This might be canned beans, a variety of spices, and some robust condiments. Creativity often starts with some simple basics!
Dami says: “Keep a stock of quick, healthy options ready, like Tilda’s ready-to-heat rice pouches and rice pots, they cook in just a few minutes and pair perfectly with any protein or veggies.”
Choose one day a week to be your meal prep day. Sunday works for many, but pick what fits your schedule. Cook in bulk and you’ll thank yourself on Tuesday…and Wednesday…and Thursday. Whip up a big pot of chilli, a giant stir-fry, or a hearty soup. These all keep well and can often become tastier as leftovers!
Who says fresh is always best? Frozen veggies are washed and chopped, ready to be thrown into whatever you’re cooking. They retain their nutrients better than their ageing fresh cousins sitting in the fridge, and can save a ton of prep time.
Dami says: “Nutrition is always at the forefront of my meal planning, especially during busy periods. Tilda rice products provide a nutritious base that’s quick to prepare, ensuring our meals are healthy, balanced, and satisfying, even when time is tight.”
Eating well as a busy parent doesn’t have to mean hours in the kitchen every night. Sometimes, it’s all about getting nutritious food on the table without feeling frazzled. That’s where Tilda can help with rapid-cook rice products that keep meals fresh and exciting.
Dani says: “I focus on recipes that can be made in 30 minutes or less without compromising on taste or nutrition. One of our favourites is a quick chicken stir-fry served over Tilda Coconut Basmati Rice. It’s easy to prepare, full of flavour, and packed with vegetables. Another go-to is the avocado and veggie rice bowl with Tilda’s Sticky Rice. Perfect for a midweek meal that’s both filling and nutritious.”
