Chef
Punam Vaja’s love for food began in East London, where she was born and raised in a Gujarati household filled with the aromas of home-cooked meals. Growing up, it wasn’t just the flavours of her family kitchen that left a mark, but the warmth and generosity that came with every gathering. From endless cups of chai to sweetmeats and savoury snacks, Punam’s grandmother set the standard for hospitality – ensuring that no guest ever left without a full belly and a smile.
That spirit of food and togetherness is what inspired Punam to create Khao Suppers – a dining experience born out of a desire to share the dishes she grew up with but found missing in London’s restaurant scene. Each menu draws on her Gujarati roots while bringing a modern touch, celebrating the joy of home-style cooking and the traditions that shaped her upbringing.
Her aim is simple: to create spaces where food connects people, stories are shared, and the spirit of hospitality she grew up with is passed on.
Outside of the kitchen, Punam enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling for inspiration, and of course, discovering new flavours along the way.
