Hami Sharafi Hami Sharafi

Hami’s love for food began back in Iran, where he grew up watching his mother cook their family meals. He passionately took culinary courses and joined his family restaurant in Northern Iran.

When he moved to the UK he studied Catering and Hospitality at college to learn more about different world cuisines, organisation and important kitchen skills. His longing for authentic food from home inspired him to start his food blog ‘I got it from my Maman’. His aim is to spread the word about Persian cuisine, as well as help expats like him recreate the original flavours of home.

His favourite ingredient is an essential for Persian cooking – saffron. It adds flavour and fragrance to a dish, but also transforms the colour to feed not only the stomach, but also the eyes.

Hami also offers Live and on-demand online cooking courses for the most popular Persian dishes at hamisharafi.com. He teaches authentic recipes as well as vegan adaptations.

Outside of work Hami loves spending time with friends at barbecues, travelling, being outdoors and enjoying a good movie.
