In 2013, Tilda strengthened its partnership with the World Food Programme by doubling the number vof meals donated to mothers in Bangladesh.
High rates of maternal under-nutrition and early pregnancy are significant challenges in Bangladesh where one in three babies are born with low birth weight. Without the right nutrition, a child’s physical and cognitive development will be permanently impaired. This has an impact on the whole of society.
For every specially-marked pack of Tilda Pure Basmati purchased, a mother will receive a nutrition-boosting meal. This timely meal will help her stay healthy and give her child the best start in life.
Since the campaign began in 2012, we have donated over 924,000 meals to mothers in Bangladesh.
“Private sector partners have a vital role to play in addressing childhood under-nutrition in Bangladesh. Tilda’s support for the youngest and most vulnerable section of the population during the critical first 1,000 days of life ensures we can work to provide them with the best possible start in life. WFP is proud to work with Tilda in the fight to end global hunger”.
