Huddersfield University is made up of a diverse community of over 20,000 people and situated in the heart of the vibrant town centre.

We had the opportunity to work closely with Head Chef Tom Armstrong of Huddersfield University in May 2024, an advocate of Tilda rice. We visited the university as part of our Street Food Takeover, where we unlocked street food flavours from around the globe, and saw Tom bring our recipe creations to life using Tilda’s Easy Cook Basmati rice. Three dishes were served on the day including the Nasi Goreng, Moong Dhal and Risamisu, which all went down incredibly well with the students, and chef Tom approved too.

We wanted some insight from Tom himself on what stands out to him, he said “Tilda’s Easy Cook Basmati rice lent itself perfectly to all three dishes…The aspect of the Easy Cook Basmati rice which stood out most for me was the overall quality and the amount that it stretches to”.

Tom is passionate about delivering nutritious, high-quality meals which students are looking for on campus and partnering with Tilda allows him to do this, sharing both his culinary ambitions and his values. He explains, “a big appeal about working with Tilda is the work that they do with sustainability to reduce their footprints because they are values which the university share”.
