Tilda is bringing the catering stars behind its latest recipe book to LACA: The Main Event (10th – 12th July).
Visitors to stand M21 will be able to speak with the award-winning school chefs and caterers behind the new Tilda Together recipe book, created in partnership with school-feeding charity Mary’s Meals.
Each recipe is inspired by the life-changing daily meals the charity provides to impoverished school children in 17 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. Since July 2018, Tilda’s charitable initiative has seen a meal donated to Mary’s Meals for every 5kg bag of Brown & White rice sold* – providing a staggering 60,523 meals already.
Caterers who stop by stand M21 will be able to speak with some of the leading chefs and caterers in the education sector including Tony Mulgrew (Cateys Chef Manager Winner 2018), John Whittle (Director of Catering, Ormiston Horizon Academy), Steven Cross (Newcomer of the Year – EDUcatering Excellence Awards 2016) and Michael Goulston (LACA School Chef of the Year 2018).
Annette Coggins, Head of
Foodservice, Tilda UK explains:
“We are delighted to be bringing our superstar chefs and caterers to LACA: The Main Event to share their expertise and top tips for using Brown & White to create dishes that will help pupils embrace amazing flavours from different countries and cultures.”
Visitors can also claim their free Tilda Together Recipe Booklet filled with delicious global recipes including Smokey Pulled Chicken, Indian Lamb Koftas with Coconut Rice, Jollof Rice with Chicken, Asian Sweet Potato Curry, Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Hearty Vegetable Stew with Middle Eastern Rice & Black Beans.
“Using Tilda Brown & White Rice, the dishes bring together the health benefits of wholegrain with the taste and visual appeal of white rice. Packed full of flavour, caterers who add the new recipes to school menus will not only be feeding their own students, but through Tilda’s partnership will also be supporting the valuable work of Mary’s Meals around the world.”
With a 50:50 mix of wholegrain and white rice, Tilda’s Brown & White is the ideal combination for a variety of wonderful and exciting ingredients. Naturally gluten-free, Brown & White offers a range of vitamins and minerals important for pupils’ development, allowing caterers to serve dishes that will maintain a sustained flow of energy throughout the school day.
Caterers will have the opportunity at stand M21 to discover how the rice people are helping school caterers add new flavours and cuisines to their offerings. Tilda will also be on hand to discuss and share the latest trends shaping today’s menus.
*Tilda donates 7p from the sale of every 5kg bag of Brown & White – the cost of a typical portion of rice in the UK to caterers – and what’s needed to provide a hungry child with a school meal through Mary’s Meals.
