Catering for up to 1000 customers a day comes as second nature to Kitchen Manager Paul Miller and his team at the bustling JD Wetherspoon pub, The Welkin. Located in the heart of Liverpool, the pub attracts many tourists dropping in for a quick meal, \u201cBeing right in the city centre, our customer base is mainly tourists from around the world. Speed of service is very important to us as customers generally just want to grab a quick bite. We aim to serve all of our customers in 10 minutes or less!\u201d declares Paul.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With efficiency, speed of service and quality at the heart of Paul\u2019s operation, he only looks for ingredients that deliver on these key elements. \u201cChicken Tikka Masala is one of our most popular dishes and served with Tilda Frozen Yellow Basmati Rice we can easily achieve our 10 minute food service aim.\u201d The Welkin also uses Tilda Frozen Basmati Pilau Rice served with a number of gourmet curry dishes, Paul states \u201cThe rice is good quality and has a very convenient cooking time of under 2 minutes, ensuring customers are not left waiting too long for their favourite meals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like many pubs, Paul has felt the pinch over the last few years, \u201cWe have been hit hard by the recession as we increasingly have to compete with other food outlets for customers.\u201d With this in mind, Paul has made it his priority for The Welkin and its staff to ensure that all customers are continually served great quality meals quickly. Serving an average of at least 150 curries each curry night, and recognising the need to keep ingredient wastage to a minimum, Paul needs a rice brand he can trust to deliver perfect results against his set criteria every time, \u201cI have been serving Tilda Frozen Yellow Basmati for well over 7 years now. I class it as an essential ingredient for The Welkin, as I know it is for all JD Wetherspoon pubs. Across all JD Wetherspoon pubs we have been known to sell up to a quarter of a million curries in a 4 week period, serving Tilda Frozen Yellow Basmati or Tilda Frozen Basmati Pilau with every one of those dishes! Testament enough to the Tilda brand I\u2019d say.\u201d
